LSTK is a non-profit organization which employs its instructors as paid staff. Since paid staff may not vote at board meetings, the instructors and instructor candidates are adjungated members (advising but without voting rights). For private organizations, rent is 20 times higher than for non-profits teaching people under 21. Private organizations are also not entitled to financial support. Since all athletics are non-profit in Sweden, being a private enterprise would mean competing for members at very disadvantageous terms. However, in order to expand further, we will need to find our own facilities anyway, at which time we may alter organizational status. Until that time, we will remain a model, democratic non-profit organization.
LSTK was founded in the late summer of 1997 as 'Songahm Lund, WTTU'. This name was used until January 2004, when we joined the National Athletic Association to qualify for financial aid and also to be able to compete in Swedish Taekwondo tournaments.
As members of the Swedish Taekwondo Association, our members are entitled to compete in Swedish WTF or ITF tournaments. However, we may not compete in tournaments outside Sweden without accreditation from the organization organizing the event. The Swedish Taekwondo Association offers financial aid for international tournaments, but not for Songahm tournaments since Songahm Taekwondo is not an approved form of Taekwondo organization.

LSTK Finances - Overview
LSTK has, since it joined the Swedish Athletic Association, made more money than it has spent. Surpluses have been used to repay debts incurred during the early years, when Nils Bastedo had to buy all training equipment and pay for facilities out of his own pocket. Additional surpluses are used to purchase training equipment and, eventually, a buffer will be gathered for future expansion and possible wage increases for instruction staff.
